A note from the publisher

I want to thank all those who answered our request for help over the Internet Mail Lists and Newsgroups in revising and expanding the material from the 1st Edition over the past 4 years. Their assistance insured that this is the best it can be. Much of the expanded and revised information I have seen in this is a direct result of those efforts.
Tim Mulina, BHI Publications

An historic book, reprinted at last
As most narrow gauge fans know, Robert Sloan’s First Edition of this book was hailed when it was released 10 years ago as the most complete single grouping of information on the freight equipment of the D&RGW narrow gauge ever published. Since it sold out, many have tried to get copies through the Internet with some selling for extraordinary prices. This is the first time it has been reprinted and also is a limited run.

The book has been expanded about 60 pages over the 1st Edition and every chapter has had some parts of it revised and many have been almost completly rewritten.

Special note to owners of the First Edition

For those that picked up the 1st  Edition, we would highly recommend picking up this one as well because much of the information for the first edition had been compiled via the US Mail starting in the 1970’s and a lot of new data has since come to light, some corrected older information and some expanded greatly upon it thus the Revised and Enlarged part of the title of the 2nd Edition. Along with the many older and well respected experts out there that helped with both editions, there are many new ones who in the years since it was printed have become known for their scholarship and their attention to detail that make this as much a MUST HAVE addition to your library as the 1st Edition was.
